How Yoga Changed My Life

We speak with Marie, founder of Thothub – your go-to space for heart-centered yoga and holistic healing.

Marie, the soulful founder of Thothub, has transformed her life – and the lives of others – through the practice of yoga and mindfulness. Her platform, Thothub, offers a sanctuary for people seeking physical balance, emotional release, and spiritual connection through yoga. As more people look inward and turn to healing practices, we sat down with Marie to hear her journey and learn how yoga has become her path to freedom, health, and purpose.

Tell us about yourself – how did yoga first enter your life, and how has it shaped your professional journey?

Yoga found me during a time of deep stress and disconnection. I was living life at a fast pace, always on the go, doing everything for others, and neglecting myself in the process. I came across yoga initially out of curiosity, but very quickly, it became my anchor. I started with simple breathing and gentle movements, and over time, it became a full transformation.

Eventually, I left behind what no longer served me and committed to studying yoga deeply. I completed multiple teacher trainings and workshops, not just to teach but to understand the wisdom behind the practice. That’s how Thothub was born – not just as a website, but as a space for healing and connection, where I now offer classes, private sessions, and a range of supportive tools for mind-body wellness.

How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact your practice and business?

It was a major shift – like many, I had to move everything online. My home turned into a yoga hub, a digital office, and a recording space! But surprisingly, this opened up beautiful possibilities. I connected with people from all over the world, guiding them through classes from their living rooms. It reminded me that yoga doesn’t need a studio.

Thothub also evolved to include online workshops, personalized video sessions, and donation-based classes to support mental health and community care. This time reinforced that yoga is not just exercise – it’s a life raft.

What does your daily routine look like now?

Each day starts with quiet time – I rise, drink warm lemon water, and step onto my mat. My morning yoga practice is my sacred time – followed by meditation, journaling, or pranayama, depending on how I feel. Then I check in with my online community, reply to clients, and organize upcoming sessions.

I balance teaching with my own growth – learning never stops in yoga. In the evenings, I wind down with soothing rituals: herbal teas, stretching, soft music or a yoga nidra practice. My favorite meditation app right now is Insight Timer, and I love lighting incense or essential oils for grounding.

What advice would you give to beginners just starting their yoga journey?

First, don’t rush. Yoga isn’t about getting the perfect pose. It’s about feeling into your body and tuning into your breath. Let go of comparison – your practice is your own. You don’t need to be flexible or fit to begin. Yoga will meet you exactly where you are.

Start small – maybe 10 minutes a day – and focus on consistency, not complexity. Find a teacher or platform that resonates with you. And most importantly: enjoy the process. It’s not just about movement – it’s a return to yourself.

What types of yoga do you recommend for different goals, and do you have a favorite?

Absolutely. For energy and strength, I love a dynamic Vinyasa or Ashtanga practice. If someone’s feeling anxious or overstimulated, Yin or Restorative Yoga can bring deep calm. I also guide trauma-informed practices that focus on nervous system regulation – something many people need more than they realize.

Personally, my heart leans toward a mix: active practices to feel alive and strong, and slower ones to connect deeply with the subtle body. Our needs change day to day – and yoga gives us tools for every state.

What is your diet like now? Has yoga influenced it?

Completely. I used to eat whatever was convenient – lots of processed food. But through yoga, I started to listen to my body more. I gradually shifted to a mostly plant-based lifestyle. Now, I eat whole, nourishing foods that feel alive – fresh fruits, veggies, grains, and herbal teas.

I’m a flexitarian too – not rigid, but intentional. Food is energy, and I try to eat with awareness and gratitude. When I eat well, I feel clear, vibrant, and aligned.

What’s your go-to self-care when you feel tension or pain?

My self-care toolkit is sacred! I love gua sha facial massage – it’s part of my morning ritual. I use natural balms for my shoulders and neck, especially after long sessions online. I’m also a fan of herbal baths, magnesium soaks, and breathwork when my energy feels stuck.

And of course, meditation – it’s the deepest form of self-care for me. It brings me back to center.

What do you miss most when life gets busy or in times like lockdown?

I miss travel and connecting with nature in new places. I also miss in-person gatherings and the energy of live group classes. But I’ve learned to find beauty in the stillness too.

What keeps you positive and inspired?

My practice. My students. The simple act of helping someone feel better in their body or calmer in their mind – that’s everything. I also journal every day, and I try to stay grateful – even for the small things. Gratitude shifts everything.
